Stop And Eat At Florence Pie Bar Near Northampton MA
You couldn’t possibly have a bigger invitation for a pie break than the gigantic PIE sign on the clapboards of Florence Pie Bar MA.
Not far from I-91, either. In Massachusetts. Right near Northampton (NOHO).
So many reasons to be in the area…
You’re going to linger for a bit in NOHO? Or maybe you’re taking the scenic route over to destinations in NY? The Berkshires? Perhaps a college tour with a grandchild (the area is famed for the 5-college configuration of Smith, Mount Holyoke, Amherst, Hampshire, and UMass)? Maybe NOHO’s LGBT Pride parade?
So many reasons to drop in at Florence Pie Bar.
And you won’t have to go far if you’re on I-91.
Just drive through NOHO (being sure not to run over pedestrians, who by local tradition tempt fate by automobile), and northwest past Smith College. Keep going for a bit, admiring lawns, stately houses, and academic spiffiness, until you come to Florence.
It’s that easy.
Florence Pie Bar is very distinctive, slap dabba do at a significant intersection.
The great thing about pie is that it doesn’t have to cost a lot. No surprise at Florence Pie Bar, either.
But let’s extend the definition a bit, ‘cos heck if the cherry cobbler with whipped cream on top isn’t just plain divine. It’s covered with the most-melt-in-your-mouth-heavenly crusty stuff you’d ever have a chance to experience in the cobbler world.
The cobbler is a must. Even if you have to take some for later.
Many types of pie
And while we’re extending the pie break strict definition—as in wedge-shaped sweetness— there are meat pies, pies that you grab, egg pies, cold pies, hot pies, spicy pies, whole pies. All kinds of pies!
So, don’t drive on by: you’re sure to find something to satisfy an appetite even if you didn’t know you had one..
Nothing to worry about if you don’t see the exact flavor you like in plain view, either. Chocolate cream? A slice might be lurking in the refrigerator waiting for you. The fruit crumble? Perhaps sitting on the stove in a pan just out of the oven?
When you’re not there
The staff have their noses to the grindstone shaping up the next pie recipe and baking new ones to fill out the case. That pie bar looks pretty inviting, huh? The row of lip-smacking pies?
When you step in
They’re friendly as heck, so friendly you might just spring for a spare slice for the road.
Enjoy your treat

While you settle in with your homemade, heaped-high, apple pie, caffeine in hand.
Follow up your pie-buzz
You’re in luck if you need some middle-reducing activity right about now, after you’ve forked in your pie and slurped down your coffee, because, what ho! there’s a magnificent zebra crossing on the cute little side street half a block down from the café.
Can you even in good conscience ignore those gaudy walk signs? It’s a multi-use trail, too: no cars. Woohoo!
