If you pick the right day. On another day, you might find rice pudding, a different kind of homemade pie, or some as yet un-thought-up treat instead. They’ll be tasty, too.

All you’ll need is I-91 in VT, following along the Connecticut River about 11/16ths the way up to Canada. Exit #14 at Thetford.
Conveniently for analytical types, East Thetford—which is where you want to go for Isabell’s—is EAST of the interstate.
Head on down the hill a mile or two and arrive at a T. Raise your eyes from the tarmac, and Isabell’s will be looking right at you. How could you miss something that adorable?
Did we mention local color?
At this little café near I-91 in VT, it’s not just about the yellow and orange tablecloths, kitschy salt and pepper shakers, or rows of teapots.
The inside bustles with activity, chatter, and neighborliness. The locals say hi to you, too. See how they arranged this photo so they could do just that?
And, they specifically recommend the cinnamon rolls on the breakfast menu. But you’ll have to get there before 11 am, since by then the cook has lunch underway.
And those weren’t the only obliging regulars, either. There was considerable intense conversation over teapots and lunch specials.
If you want some fun other local color, either head to the nearby FREE balloon fest in May, or bid on a prehistoric snowmobile at a local auction. Or maybe a hike on the Appalachian Trail, sightseeing, and a drive-in movie are more your thing? All are exercise-inclusive!

You’ll want BBQ at Wicked Awesome. Same exit, a couple of hundred yards from Isabell’s. It’s adorable, too.
